Megan Kennedy
I started dancing at the age of 5, I am now 18 and I took to it like a duck to water, I loved it!.
Irish Dancing was more than a hobby to me, it was my passion and my life revolved around it. I started at the bottom and worked my way up, through hard work, determination and commitment.
Like all dancers I’ve had the aches and the pains, but in 2011 when I broke my foot in two places I thought it was the end of the world for me. I had to remain focused and stay positive and after 7 months of physio and support from my family and friends, I returned to competition and was placed 5th in the world.
Recently I got accepted into a Riverdance Master class that was attended by dances from 44 different countries all over the world. The amount of people and many friends that I have gained through dancing has been worth all the hard work and long hours alone.
I am now at senior champion level and have been placed 2nd in Ulster and 5th in Worlds. I have also just sat my A levels in Maths, Physics and ICT.
My advice to anyone would be to follow their dreams and work hard, because if I can achieve it – anyone can!
